报告内容:

Ordinal Patterns are a non-parametric transformation of subsequences. They were proposed by Bandt & Pompe in 2002 as a means to unveil the underlying dynamics that govern signals. Ordinal Patterns have several interesting properties, among them being resistant to outliers and invariant to strictly increasing transformations. With more than 2600 citations, they are a powerful tool for analysing time series, images, and networks. This talk is an overview of Ordinal Patterns, ways of analysing them, applications, and future research directions.

报告人介绍:

Professor Alejandro C. Frery is a Statistics and Data Science Professor at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. He is the Vice-President of Publications at IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society. He received the prestigious IEEE GRSS Regional Leader Award in 2018 and has had leadership positions including editor-in-chief of IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters (2014-2019).

He has published over 220 articles about statistical computing and signal and image analysis in indexed journals, with SAR and PolSAR as his primary research focus. He has held a "Hua shan Scholar" position at Xidian University, Xian China since 2019. He was the University Vice-Chancellor for Research,Graduate Courses, and innovation from January 2016 to January 2020. His main contributions have been in the statistical modelling of SAR and PolSAR data reproducibility, and more recently on non-parametric analysis of time series.
